It's Battenberg Cake. This wonderful little cake was named in honor of Prince Louis Battenberg for the 1884 wedding between the prince and Queen Victoria's granddaughter. Battenberg Cake was even featured in Frederick Vine's Saleable Shop Goods for Counter, Tray, and Window from 1898. Mild almond-flavored cake spread with apricot preserves covered with fondant.
