A Good Morning

Kanelsnurrer - Cinnamon & Cardamom Twists
I like to call these Norske Knots. These are a soft Danish like pastry with an aromatic blend of cinnamon and cardamom but not overly sweet. Kanelsnurrer are popular throughout Scandinavia.

Korvapuustit
Here are Finnish Korvapuustit or Korvapuusti which roughly translates to "slapped ears". I don't know about ears but I do know these will slap you silly with flavor. These are a light pastry flavored with a blend of cinnamon and cardamom and they make a fun addition to your morning coffee.

Danish
Danish were originaly brought to Denmark by Austrians and are a type of viennoiserie. These are created by locking in layer after layer of butter into a soft pastry dough - similar to the process for making croissants. The pinwheel shape works perfectly for tearing off bite sized morsels of rich pastry, fruit preserves, and icing.

Kolaches
I remember enjoying these treats when I was a child, especially when my family lived in Wisconsin, but I have lived in some places where folks were unfamiliar with this tasty pastry. My Kolache versions today were filled with chunky apple filling and apricot preserves and topped with lemon oil and nutmeg infused cream cheese and a sprinkle of streusel.

Chelsea Buns
Chelsea Buns. These go back to the 1700s and the Chelsea Bun House, a popular destination for British Royalty, King George II, and King George III. The Bun House was also a purveyor of Hot Cross Buns. You will undoubtedly enjoy these and will be able to proclaim, with pride, that you have eaten like royalty.
